9th grade GEAR UP Teachers from Cholla, Desert View, Pueblo, Sunnyside and Tucson High Schools, we welcome you to invite UA Graduate Students in Science, Math, or Technology to your classroom.

Speakers Bureau Details

  • 20+ UA STEM Graduate Students who can visit your science/math class or related event.
  • Students give presentations and/or lead activities related to their STEM research and areas of expertise. Speakers can customize for teacher needs.
  • Speakers receive a stipend for 2-3 hrs. Stipend funded by Tucson GEARUP, NASA Space Grant, and the UA COS.
  • Free for Eligible Teachers. Those who teach Science & Math to Tucson GEAR UP Students - 9th graders at Cholla, Desert View, Pueblo, Sunnyside & Tucson Magnet High Schools.

How to Schedule a Speaker:
First come first served!

Featured Video: Science and Nature in Tandem with Youth, SANITY

Students entering the 9th grade at Tucson High school participated in SANITY, a field research experience at the American Museum of Natural History's Southwest Research Station in Arizona's beautiful Chiricahua Mountains. Students developed their own research projects and interacted with researchers visiting the station from around the world. New friendships and camaraderie with science teachers and students at Tucson Magnet High School also take shape during the experience that is SANITY. The program is funded by Tucson High Magnet School and the University of Arizona College of Science, with help from The Tucson Gear Up Project.
